Twinkle past us without our notice, 
Just the fleeting, priceless pennies of circumstance.

Little miracle moments Twinkle past us without our notice, Just the fleeting, priceless pennies of circumstance. A child’s laughter heard through a closed door. A mother’s sigh speaking all the things her heart holds but never utters. A bird singing its perfect melody to a world still drowsy from sleep. An autumn maple dropping a flurry of flame-colored leaves on the quiet earth. A passing cloud that morphs into countless shapes as the wind carries it across the horizon. Caught in our maddening, frenzied world, We miss the wonders and graces that serve as our reminders Of a time when we played on the swing set or made mud pies Or ran through the forest with wild abandon, Certain we would conquer any dragon and best any dark knight. But that was in the before When we had never faced the dark night of the soul Or the demons of loss and fear.
